<p class="Paragraph">You can apply numbering in your text either as <help:popup Id="65619" Eid="formatierung" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">direct formatting</help:popup> or by using a Style, just as you can with other paragraph attributes such as "Justified" or "Line Spacing". The icons on the numbering object bar and the options in the <help:link Id="65716" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><span class="T1">Format - Numbering/Bullets</span></help:link> dialog apply direct formatting. Direct formatting is also applied when you use automatic numbering via the AutoFormat/AutoCorrect function.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">The AutoNumbering of AutoCorrect is not applied to the Styles listed in the Stylist under "Special Styles".</p>

<p class="Paragraph">You can apply a particular <span class="T1">Numbering Style</span> to certain Paragraph Styles or apply the Numbering Style directly to the paragraphs. In those cases, you can take advantage of the paragraph formatting system for numbering as well.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">When you change the Numbering Style, all numbering that you have created with this Style will be automatically reformatted. The Numbering Styles are described in the <help:link Id="67661" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:productname>%PRODUCTNAME</help:productname> Help</help:link>.</p>
